    Hi folks,

I’ve been asked to source some one-way window film for 7No 3mx2m groundfloor windows.

I’ve been in touch with William Smiths, who put me in touch with 3M. It seems that 3M only sell a solar control film which happens to have a mirror finish on one side. When I enquired as to it’s suitability I was told that once the light levels inside got higher (ie, someone turned the lights on) the film would become more and more translucent from the outside.

Is there a more suitable film on the market… and where can I get it from. I have thought about Robert’s "2mm window film"… but over a 3m length..? I don’t want to give the people inside a headache!!

    Cheers all

    hi mate
the folm your looking for is controvision, clearveiw etc same idea different makes. these are based of perforrations in the film. “2mm holes”
the method i use in the demo works exactly the same way. but.. it doesnt cost anywhere near the price, no signs of joins because you can join on a space etc etc. you do it all in-house!

try a bit about 2 foot square and stick it on an exterior window. and have a look from the inside. you will see it has no ill effect in comparison with normal one way vision vinyls.

was about to post asking for info on contravision we have a client who wants it applied to glass panels aswell …… we will have to have a go at your method Rob and show an example to client, see what they want to do.

Just had a quote from W M Smith for a roll of perforated window film, laminated by them “because it traps the dirt” (any plus point for rob’s method 😀 )… Let’s just say that if I could charge this amount… and do it Rob’s way… I wouldn’t need to work for weeks 😮

Needless to say, I too will be trying Rob’s method over the weekend 😆

    Cheers folks
