Hi all, just a quick question that has arose…

a customer has some large posters that they want to scan to incorporate into a printed vehicle design, problem is we only have a desktop scanner and it wouldn’t work to scan it in pages then stitch it all back together…so my main question is:

does anyone in the west yorkshire area have a large format scanner that could do this for me?

the posters are about 3ftx2ft i think.

    any help or advice appreciated

    cheers

i actually scan and stitch… you have to make sure you get all the scanner plastic out of the way so u just got a flat glass, setup some marking system so you scan absolutely straight every scan… i must admit we use a A3 sized copier top now as a lot of these scan.

ok 3foot is a bit big tho, not sure who these days would have a scanner that big as digital photography is another answer.

Here are some free tools for stitching together panoramas. http://panotools.sourceforge.net/

You’ll probably find the ones you need at this link.

There are plug ins for Photoshop as well. I think they are included in the compressed file that you’ll download depending on which platform you’re on.

would there be any chance of obtaining the artwork from the originators?
you may be breaking copyright if you just reproduce them.

    Hi Stephen

Just looking through my new jigsaw catalog and saw a large format scanner aimed at architects, maybe try some of your local architects and one of them might have a large scanner

    just an idea

    cheers

Some Giclee printers have large scanners. There is one in Stafford £25 a scan.

    Hi Stephen
You might want to look up Vizbiz Signs in Wakefield as I`m sure I`ve seen them advertising that the can copy architects drawings.

Sorry I don`t have a number but I think they are on Yell.

    Cheers
