  • Where can I get 1500mm vinyl

Posted by Steve Pugsley on 23 January 2010 at 17:16

Hi I have to cover a 1520×1500 sign in red vinyl any idea where to get this from. Also any recommendations which vinyl to use would be helpful. I normally use vinyl corporation but don’t think they supply anything this width.
    thanks
    Steve

I think Hexis do 1520 wide in some colours/ranges.

Interesting if Hexis offer this width. I tried phoning round a good few suppliers some months back for a colour 54inch wide but could only get digital white.

something to consider is how it will be applied. fair enough if applying using some form of mounting machine, but remember, if doing it by hand you will need to tape it up and you are then going to need an application tape the same width or run the high risk of a line of bubbles/imperfections where the application tape is joined on the vinyl. if doing it by hand using an air-escape adhesive series of vinyl will help you.
then again, maybe your just going to flood coat the vinyl using wet application?

    anyway… :lol1:

    Rob,

Page 12 onwards, looks like at the very least that K7000 conformable, Suptac and Ecotac have a selection of each range available in 1520mm…..

kpmf comes in 1600, also sold by hexis, the vws , and it is a wrap vinyl not air release, but easy enough to use without app tape, Rob have I missed something?

    quote Peter Normington:

Not sure what you mean Peter, I am not talking anything to do with wrapping, but Cut-Vinyl. this is a flood coat of a flat panel after all…

    as for air-release systems…
there are a few good brands out there now offering coloured calender and cast vinyls with the bubble free adhesive system. I suggested them because this will help if flood coating without the need of application tape because as i said, doesn’t often come at this width, and if used in tiles, will introduce imperfections along the join when applied/flood coated.

Rob, the vinyl comes in 1600 wide and is suitable for flood coating, without app tape. the fact that it sold as a wrapping material is of no matter, it will do the job that steve asked about, ie flood coat a 1500mm panel.

I do see what you are saying Peter, But not really what i was meaning…
wrap vinyl is more expensive than the likes of cut-vinyl and ide never consider ordering in ex-amount to flood coat panels unless i was being paid over and above as it normally comes in a minimum quantity order.
Wrap vinyl also comes in a very "limited" variety of colours, unlike cut vinyl ranges. i.e. dark red or medium red, navy blue or cosmos blue etc
as i said also, i have tried in the past looking for a cut vinyl source for over 48inch wide machines, but they seem few and far between these days.
how it is being applied etc is really irrelevant, i was merely mentioning different scenarios to be taken into consideration.

Mactac 9800 can also be purchased 1500mm wide we have used loads of Matt black in that width working on M&S Windows.
