  • Where can I buy Roller applicators?

Posted by ruth on 29 September 2003 at 16:00

We’ve just had a new signmaker join the firm and she is a dab hand at vinyl application using a rubber roller. Where can I get a roller applicator from, I don’t much fancy the Grafityp ones but I can’t find any anywhere else. She has hers but the others are getting envious and I don’t want a riot!

    Any ideas?

I’m sure this topic was discussed at some point before and someone had said that the rollers could be bought much cheaper in art stores.

the best rollers i have bought came from x-fILM IM SORRY I DONT HAVE DETAILS HANDY.. A SEARCH ON THE NET IM SURE WILL FIND THEM.
they come in various widths. “not very cheap, but last for years” about £17 for 4 inch wide one, thats hat i paid about 4 years ago..

the diy and art stores ones normaly are a much sufter rubber which i found did not do the job well enough. but thats maybe just the ones i found. not saying they all are like that. 🙄

I’ve slowly built up a selection from one of Art Shops out there. With Claire being in college I also got Student Discount. 😀

Ask for Paul ( don’t forget to tell him I recommended them)
    😉

Work is considerably harder without a roller and a felt squeegee.

I use the 3in red ones, bought for about 5 pounds in the art shop in Glasgow. I have been using it for over 2 years now and it works great!

Any bigger than 3in is no good as it will leave trapped air in the vinyl.

In this case size does matter, small is better, ( so I tell the missus ). 😳 😳

I’ve never seen a roller in action. Any chance of a quick demo from someone? What are the advantages?
