Hi this is my first time posting 🙂

ive just been offerd a mutoh rj4000 cheap, i work as a designer so apart from some epson printing i dont have much experience with large format printers.

Where are the best places to get supplys for this machine? parts, paper, inks etc.

Also what are the limitations in terms of what this can print on, anything i should avoid etc.

Also looking for user experiences of this machine.

    thanks for any help.

    Dave.

the falcon was around when we bought our Albatross about 5 year ago. ALthough different machines, I would have a good look at it first and see how the heats are printing… ask for a "print head test" which would be a series of lines on a sheet. All lines need to be present and printing in the right position (not slightly deflected)

I would then find out the ink costs… and the price for head replacments.

Also, make sure u have got a RIP with the deal.

If not, then stay clear or budget it in somehow.

it does come with some rip software, onyx? as for the heads ive had a quote for about £150, allthough ive been told i should be able to get them round the £100 mark.

As for inks im not to sure, there seems to loads of various types about, tbh these machines will mainly be used about 4-5 times a year printing A0 posters for shows etc. And maybe to produce some posters for outdoor use.

Are the any types/makes i should look into/avoid? Is it best to stick with own brand inks? Or due to the age of the printer just go ahead and buy the cheaper stuff.

    thanks for the input
