Whatsis the best equivilent for Oracal 651 material
Hi everyone
My local supplier has come into huge problems with stock of Oracal 651 vinyl.
The company who orders it for him have made some huge mistakes and did not place his order to Germany for a container.
He now is going to have to stock a substitute material.
The two options are
Mactac 8300pro film or Avery 500 series.
I feel that the Avery 500 is not up to the same standard as the Oracal 651
What do you all think .
Are there any other substitutes in the same price range.
Do any of you have experience with the Mactac 8300.
We all love the 651 and have used it for many years now and i hate to use other material but it looks like for the next 2-3 months we will have to do this.

spoke to the south African stockist of metamark and they say they have stopped stocking it and have moved over to LG.

not a fan of Avery 500 either, Avery 700 would be the only cheap material I’d consider, That said, I don’t like 651 either, Only ever use 551 if I’m not using a cast.
3M series 50 is a good product, but more inline with 551 than the lower grade 651. Rumour has it, that it’s actually 551 with 3M adhesive.

LG is ok, not my first choice, but since i still have a couple of rolls left i’m using them, the application is fine, but if i ever have a prob when cutting, it’s always the LG!
mactac 9800 is good too.

I know 9800 is good and i use it all the time.
BUt im looking for a alternative in the same price range as Oracal 651

Why noy just use the 551 as a stand in. The colours will be closer and there won`t be so much of difference in price.

i wish but they dont import 551 into africa.
The company who brings in 651 have the rights to southern africa but thye have messed up with ordering the right stock amounts so now you will be lucky to find a roll of 651 anywhere in southern africa.
so we have to move to a different make of vinyl all together.

You could try JAC serisign really nice vinyl to use very similar if not the same as metamark.
