  • whats the easiest way to laminating small graphics ?

    hi,

have the chance to quote for a small point of sale job, I can print this via my cadet and mount onto kappa or foam x pretty easily, HOWEVER.

my question is can I laminate these by hand, they will be fairly small at 50 cm x 40 cm?

Also should I print these then laminate and then mount? or print, mount and laminate?

    would appreciate some feedback.

    cheers

    Hi

I laminate without a machine at the moment.

I print, leave it overnight before wet applying the laminate and then mount onto whatever its going onto.

    Hope that helps

wet apply laminate by hand [using a solvent based laminate]……….
then trim print……..and mount as normal……..no problem 😀

    Graeme

I laminate up to the full width of the material and whatever the length is.

Its a bit of a handful, but you just need plenty of soapy water and an extra pair of hands. :lol1:

Maybe buy Oracle 3651 then you can use it for printing on clear as well…gloss though 😀

Get the Oracal laminate for 3651 290G I think it is
makes a fool of the clear and it puts a good gloss on it
Apply wet though as you don’t get a second chance at all
Use a proper app fluid as well while you are at it
    Thats my opinion

I use lots of Rapid Tac Application Fluid.

It allows the laminate to flow across the printed graphics and it’s forgiving if you need to lift and re-apply.

Its easy the push all the air & water out with a felt squeegee.

    HI GRAEME,
    WE USE BOTH METHODS
ON LARGER JOBS WE LAMINATE THROUGH OUR 760MM LAMINATER
AND ON SMALLER JOBS WE JUST USE WATER AND WASHING UP LIQUID SPRAY PRINT AND LAMINATE WITH ULTRAMARK 5700 TRANSPARANT FILM
IT WORKS GREAT AND HAD NO PROBLEMS FOR YEARS
ALWAYS BEST TO LAMINATE FIRST PRIOR TO MOUNTING ON BOARD ITS A LOT EASIER
