  • Whats the diameter of a 50 meter roll??

Posted by Phillip Patterson on 5 March 2012 at 15:29

    Hi all,

I am making a rack for my vinyl rolls and would like to know what the diameter is for a 50 meter roll so I can make it accordingley. I assume thats the maximum you get on a full roll.

    Thank you

Different brands and ranges will differ slightly – but assume about 150mm

I reckon I must have been short changed on a full roll of vinyl then

    😕

will differ on material & liner thickness, but wouldn’t have thought 25mm!!!

Just opened a roll of thickish over laminate……150 mm dia.

    Something else to consider….

When I built all my racks I set these to accommodate rolls for a 610mm width. A year or so later my main supplier changed the width from 610mm to 620mm. Fortunately I had made my racks slightly wider than required so the new width still fits (but only just).

I’m just wondering how many have seen this thread and have done what I’ve just done

Taken a tape measure and measured a full roll

(Hugh! 175mm? are we talking magnetic roll here? 🙂 )

This is annoying me now, have just had 3 full rolls delivered and decided to check….Avery 528. The roll diameters are 142mm 140mm – 145 mm. Quie a few turns to get to 150mm And the ends have been cut with a knife. 😮 Should I be calling my supplier? 🙁

There could also be a variation in how tight the material is wound onto the core, just a tiny variation would easily account for 5mm on diameter.

It was more the way the roll was cut/hacked that annoyed me and only one piece of tape holding it, when it’s normally 2. I doubt it left the factory that way.
Rang them about it so we shall see.
Nice wee scam for a warehouse packer/part time signmaker 😀

Unless I’m mistaken, the 500 series is real estate grade, I’d call shrinkage variation lol
