whats the best way to overlap a 2 colour graphic?
Hi all,
I Need to do a 2 colour for someone. I was just wondering whats the best way to do it, just pit the dark blue right on top of the ligher or punch out the overlaps. Or then again is it better to punch out the overlapping parts and then make the remaining bits a bit bigger so there is a little overlap all the way around? Heres it is.

I would do the whole design in light blue overlaid with the dark, with a bleed.

I’d do the whole design in dk blue, then overlay the light blue.
I’d also do it flush, no overlap or bleed, as it would have to be a reasonable overlap for it not to lift later.

cut and fit the dk blue
cut the light blue .25mm contour smaller kiss fit to dk blue.or print and cut

ide cut it the dark blue first with the light blue sections "in-layed" to the space rather than a layer on top because alignment would have to be perfect to stop the edge of the blue being seen beneath. however, the light blue sections that are in the centre ide "overlay" them onto the blue.
hope that made sense… im hopless at expalianing things like this. 😀

I would try the dark on top of light and see how it looked.

If using Signlab or similar, I would weld the two together using inlay weld with an overlap (size depends on finished size) so that the dark blue went down first. This weld routines would put small extended tabs on the dark blue for the light blue to be registered to.

Many thanks all. I ordered plenty enough vinyl and had a play on a large sheet of conti board, I tried all the above methods and found that I like most of them ! some easier than others. Alignment was a pain (this is part of a larger sign, I did a few smaller ones too) but it all worked out fine.
