    Hello again,
I’ve recentley bought a cadet and i’m considering adobe illustrator. Can anybody tell me what’s the latest and best version to get please. And also Im looking for suppliers of cd rom’s with good backgounds and high res photo’s. Sorry to sound so stupid but i’m trying to get as much info on everything before i buy as my pingies have been slightly sindged in the past.
On the subject of software! When my cadet was installed, Troop designer was installed. I was told that it was the best version? But reading the threads i have noticed that a lot of people have version 5. Can anyone shed some light on the subject for me please? Many thanks

There have been several posts on this in the past. It’s probably worth searching for them.

I’m not sure what Troop Designer is. Maybe they’ve changed the name again, but I suspect it is the basic version in the Troop V5 series which is the Wasatch RIP. If so, tough. What Wasatch cut out is vital to an efficient operation such as the visual layout of multiple files and decent automatic layouts. I could not work with this but am very happy with the full version.

CS2 is the latest version of Illustrator. As for clip art collections i bought ‘art explosion 525,000’ a 34 cd collection for about £130 well worth the outlay!!!

Mainly Illustrator, Photoshop, Quark and Freehand if i have to! I send everything from Illustrator to go to print though. I’ve been using it since version 5.5 and still have a collection of 10 floppy disks it came on!
As for vinyl i’m a Flexisign (5.8 pro) convert.

yeh tell me about it, mac versions are always more expensive.

with regards to illustrator, CS2 is well worth it for the new features, the phototrace facility is excellent and produces limited colour vector photograph traces ready for the cutter, or retro looking images for the printer.

if u have enough money go for the full CS suite, it rocks.

    😀

btw, i been using illustrator since v.88, thats the version not the year. 😉
