hi, what is best to clean paint work before applying vinyl? is there a special cleaner or can i use a houshold product?

also i had 2 magnetic signs that were printed on, i have cleaned off the print and applied some vinyl lettering, the lettering has lots of tiny what looks like air bubbles, i have tried to squeegee them out but they dont seem to go, even the ones close to the edge of lettering wont go. i cleaned the signs well before applying the lettering as i used an oil based cleaner to remove the print, would this have effected the adhesive in some way?

I use panel wipe from an auto paints factor

It’s the stuff sprayers use for cleaning car bodies before sraying

good stuff and I have never had a problem with it.

    Plain old rubbing (isoprophyl???) alcohol.

Overlay fluid from cherwell and others,
I have recently been trying isopropyl whatsit, bought some from print one, Not as cheap as buying in bulk, but £2.50 for 500mm I think it was,.
Most propritory brands contain meths in one form or another, Good for most grease and dirt, and general use hardest stuff to clean is silicone based stuff,

If your bubbles are tiny, leave them alone and they will probably go after a few days.

Och Rob yer Scots is showing!
I once used turps to clean off glue residue, then used Windex.
Stuck the vinyl on, all was well.
Or so I thought till I removed the vinyl and took off the clear-coat!
Luckily this was on my truck and not a customer’s.
Rapid Prep is a lot cheaper than a new paint job.
