  • what would be the best upgrade from a PC-50?

Hiya, i currently have a pc50 which does the job basically for me, when doing stuff in colour admitedly it doesnt do it very well so i only use black.
We dont use our printer for large signs or anything like that, we only use it for doing labels for our battery packs.
i dont know very much about this sort of thing and i wouldnt of have got this pc 50 from a freind because he has upgraded to a monster of machine which looks very nice.

On a cost basis what would be the next logical upgrade from a pc-50
from what i have read thermal is out and is it back to inks now ?
it would be nice to do colours depending on the costings.

the standard sort of size i use at the moment is small stuff half a meter wide by only 20cm long, it would need to print and cut once printed.

    thanks for any help guys
and merry christmas and a happy new year everyone.

i think the obvious upgrade for you would be a pc600. its print quality is “much” better, cutting and tracking more accurate and there is also the added benefit that you will already know how to operate the machine.
if width is not an issue then a second hand edge is a good option. it prints faster and running costs are less.
i personally do not think thermal is finished, but as the manufacturers are stopping making parts for the machines, i doubt there will be many around in a few years time?

Hiya Robert and callam, thanks for the advice, yes im getting to grips with this pc50 i really on do black with it at the moment but the labels it produces are clear and to the point.
Width is not an issue at all, because i used to use labels of an a4 sheet before, and aslong as i can go down the page thats not a problem.

I dont know if anyone can help with the problem im having with my refill ribbons for the cartridges ? i fit the ribbon exactly the same as the original, but when i place the cartridge in the machine it prints ok but instead of reeling in the used ribbon it leaves it on the vinyl. so i have to stop the machine before it comes back accross.

i thought it might be a tension problems so i tighened it up but i snapped a ribbon with that idea, but put and original ribbon and it works fine, so the printer seems ok.

    Thanks all for your help
Have a happy new year all
    James
