What Vinyl should be used on truck curtains?

If you haven’t already read it in the other post Robert you will not be able to use a standard vinyl on a curtain, either something like APA truck vinyl or inks.

havent read the other thread, but to add…

APA offer a Truck Curtain Vinyl, as do Avery.
APA being the better priced.

DO NOT use Banner Vinyl. it is NOT the same thing.

Truck vinyl is very soft and has an aggressive adhesive. keep this in mind when applying.

Apply to the curtain whilst on the truck.
use the tensioning straps to tighten the curtain very tight.
if you have a spare person. get them to stand "inside the truck" and lean a thick sheet of plywood or MDF aginst the curtain from the inside. it helps application as it stops the curtain flexing inwords when squeegeeing.

ive heard the Avery truck vinyl "specifies" wet application, but i only do it dry.

trucks can also be "inked on" using a cheap stencil vinyl.

I Just used the APA stuff on a soft skin trailer. Absolutely fab and great stuff to work with. It cuts and weeds really easy. But like rob says. try and get as much tension ibn the side as you can, unfortunately I was on my own, so Iv’e had to re-do a few letters but no major drama.

I think I paid about £8 a meter including vat, so I cut my text very close together and got as much out of it as I could, I broke up the web address so I could get as much text on the vinyl as I could…. you dont want big blank areas on that stuff, tooo costly!

Looks great tho, I had to apply outside in -2 conditions so I stuck a big industrial blow heater inside and left it until I could feel the side getting warm….

i have just ordered 45mt of banner material to cover a stripe apx 7.5 metres long on both sides of a curtain sided wagon. 15mt of white to cover area and two colours to apply over the top. Question do you really think its not a good idea to use on curtain sided wagons and if i were to buy the white apa vinyl could i use the other two coloured banner vinyls over the top of it? many thanks jean

I would not use banner material on curtain siders it will fail !

I have had great success using 2 colours, but have found the APA one a little translucent and may show through what’s behind.
