I would suggest flood coating it 😀

Maybe having tiles made up is an option (if he can afford a swimming pool)

Why don’t you just "sub" contract it out!

Sorry Peter, that was a bit wet!

This company uses a printed decal that is put in the pool and sunk to the bottom and into position, it just sits on the bottom under its own weight, no adhesive needed!

What’s the pool made from Peter?
I’ve done a couple of pools by hand painting resin.
    Maybe Dye subbed tiles?

    Thanks Chris,
for the most sensible answer so far,
Still, the humorous ones are more fun,

Pool is made of mosaic type tiles.

    keep em coming

obviously it will be "fitted wet"… be careful on the application incase "you get bubbles". it may begin to lift after a bit, but i wouldnt "hold my breath". if you havent done work like this before, dont just "dive in" take your time, build your confidence. "dip your toe in" till you find your feet… use a nylon squeegee when working, its a definate "life saver".

i dont know how mr singh keeps these types of posts up… 😕 :lol1: :lol1:

If you use a re-breather instead of regular scuba gear you wont get any bubbles……… :lol1: :lol1:

My brother in law owns a finishing company in London, they have the sole rights to the ‘Diasec’ system.

It sandwiches the graphic between acrylic, suitable for use underwater!

Its certainly an unusual type of sign to have to make Peter, it’ll take a bit of research to"fathom" it out, but I’m sure you’ll get to the bottom if it!

    Sorry Peter, couldn’t resist it!

What about using a "Gobo" to shine his family crest 🙄 onto the bottom of the pool.

When he asks you what a "Gobo" is.. tell him it’s to hold titties up…

    er…think I got that wrong 😳

    I like your persistence Peter
You haven’t thrown the towel in yet! … even though your in the deep end
Have you surfed the web for ideas? Bound to be someone plugging his product.
I must admit I’m a little apprehensive about trying new products so I tend to test the water before I dive in

Anyway! I don’t see it as a problem! Just make a crest and hurl it into the pool!
Should reach the bottom at some point

    Hi Peter,

Can hardly believe the dreadful puns…which are at best ,the lowest form of wit.
Anyway, I thought I´d take the plunge and dive in with a couple of practical solutions.

I´ve put signs on the bottom of swimming pools twice. One was on a yacht, the other at a house.
The yacht one was the name of the yacht which I did in cast vinyl, sealed on the edges, onto 3mm PVC. Using a scalpel I then cut out each individual letter, and stuck them to the pool with a water-resistant adhesive which I got from a local boat builder. That was about 3 years ago. The last time I saw it was in January 2007 and it still looked good.
I charged an arm and a leg to do the job.

The other one was a full colour digital print onto PVC at a friends pool.
I stuck it down with tile cement. After 10 months it´s still there.

But all that´s water under the bridge now.

    All the best. Chris A

    Thanks Chris,
by pvc do you mean rigid?
I was sort of playing with the idea of applying a digiprint to a fibreglass panel and using resin to fix it.

I am reasonably confident something like this would work, but any practical experiences are welcome as I dont want to be left up the creek without a paddle 😥

    I’m disgusted!!

Peter asked a serious question looking for serious answers and he gets showered with puns

You’d think with the pool of knowledge available someone would come up with a solution that held water. I don’t think he really wanted to be immersed with "jokes". 🙄

But I’m sure all these feeble attempts at being funny are like water off a ducks back to Peter 😕

If you use a GRP plate make sure any trimmed edges are sealed so as to prevent moisture creeping up any fibre ends (called osimondosis but not spelt like that. But other than that perfect material for job

osimondosis? is that contagious? has Sharon got it?

I was sort of playing with the idea of applying a digiprint to a fibreglass panel and using resin to fix it.

Paul works with GRP for Sunseeker for his full time job (and teaches me sign making for his part time job)

He recommends a vacuum bag system, for bonding the fibreglass panel to the bottom of the pool, using a structural polyester bonding paste. The vacuum bag sucks all the air out and applies pressure to the panel and holds it while the bonding paste cures.

The vacuum bag and paste are available from a composite supplier, and you should be able to hire a a vacuum pump.

This will only work if the pool is empty.

Sorry, no puns, but I hope this helps.

    Katie

When it comes to puns in this thread you have to go with the flow……
else you’ll be a total wash out and end up drowning in your own tears or worse face a torrent of abuse

very good peter 😀 possibly the best one of the post.

as i understand it its the gell coat that makes fiberglass water proof.
do you think you can get the floor clean enough to stick it straight down and perhaps run round the edge with a little varnish.
