  • What software do you all use for doing plates?

Ok a long time ago I bought a OKI 5200 printer/jig and cheap computer with the software pre-loaded (LG Plates)

Now I’ve not used the computer for a while and it turns out that it’s dead… not a big loss since it was cheap and nasty but more the software loss that I’m not happy with

What software do you all use for doing plates? It’s mostly for showplates so it’s more for printing

I print my plates on the jv3 an keep a record of who’s bought what and their details. The printer I used to have kept cocking up so I got rid.

I got a versacamm here but I’ve got a few OKI’s doing nothing so best use them for the plates… print onto acetate then mounted onto acrylic backings

But it’s more the design side of it now, think i’ll just set up corel to print them off if I can just remember how to set up the printer without wasting 100 sheets first :lol1:

I just use corel, set the size to the size of the plate and design away, mush more control and versatile than lg plates

Karl dont you find it a bit ott to do plates on a 1300 wide machine?
I know you can do other jobs at the same time, but most people who want plates usually need them on demand?

    Do you find it worthwhile?

I use a OKI 5700 and use Noel eakin and sons software, something like lg plates.( really reasonable prices)You should try and get a demo. its great for fast turnaround show plates etc but when someone wants something harder I use corel and import it in, both ways prove ok, alot faster than cut vinyl.
