What’s the best way to make this sign guys?
Hi all. Having a bit of bother with this one.
I need to make the No.3 logo stand off the sign tray fascia & illuminate it somehow.
My first thought are either fret cut the sign tray & illuminate that, then fret cut an acrylic disc & mount it to the sign tray.
OR
Mount a blank disc to the sign tray via stand off locators, then put some built up letters with LED’s in them & mount them to the disc.
Either way, it needs to be illuminated somehow. Have you guys got any more ideas?
Rest of the text will be flat cut letters with a downlighter.

You could build the No3 as a dimensional element that attaches over the rest of the fascia sign. To light it up, you could use what some call an LED light panel, light sheet, lumipane… it’s essentially an 8mm thick sheet of acrylic that is etched across the entire back surface and edgelit with LEDs to make that etch pattern glow white.
In simple terms, it’s a very thin built up letter in the shape of a disc, with a thin and flat light source instead of the usual backlight type products that require depth to diffuse properly. That disc could mount to the remaining flat sign with blind fasteners, such as angle clips, behind the disc itself.
Terry Cattle can probably point you to a local source, if not I may be able to help from this side of the pond, but in any case – you can make that round element out of acrylic or aluminum to be as thin as 12mm or so. I personally think a little extra depth would look nice, but it wouldn’t be too hard to execute.
