  • What protective clear vinyl for telephone screens?

    Hi guys

Not been on here for the last week – I had to take my driving test, theory and practical again!! Believe me, after so many years, it’s one hell of a culture shock. Part of my job so I had to do it.

I’ve been asked to produce the protective clear film ‘cut to fit’ all the personal radios, some 5000 + of them. What film/vinyl is suitable for this purpose?

I’m hoping I’ll be able to get something suitable for the Gerber as I can then print to it too.

    Cheers

    John,
I’ve made screen protectors for a couple of phones and a gps unit using clear self cling, it’s easier to remove and replace but I would have thought that any clear vinyl would do

    Thanks for the reply Steve.

I did wonder about cling but thought there’d be something designed for the job.

Do you find cling restrict or makes the screen less legible? Does it have good adhesion and does it leave any residue when removed?

I guess the other item I could package with them is a screen wipe prior to applying.

    Cheers

Surprisingly the self cling stays on very well, however it’s not that easy to get down properly. Self cling is not water clear but it’s not enough to worry about. I think that a removable grade of clear self adhesive might be a better bet.
Get some samples and give them a try on your own handset.

    Thanks Steve

These have to be easy to use and best quality for the task.

If anyone else has any suggestions, I’d be grateful.

Just an off the wall though.

Optically clear glass ‘tint’ film. The sort of thing put on as a security shield rather than a shade…or even 10% tint.

Think it’s a polyester though so only suitable for totally flat surfaces / curves in one dimension only.

    This sort of thing

just a random link…not used them.
