  • What is the most useful bit of equipment in your business?

Was just thinking about this, and thought I would ask the question of other signmakers.

    I have 2:

draughtsmans board, (makes life so much easier)

Excalibur cutter (Keencut) (same reason as above)

What about everyone else? Don’t include cutters or printers though.

    That’s an easy one Lorraine.

Our most used piece of kit is a Morphy Richards kettle. 😀

    My hands.
    And my freebie wooden yardstick.
Does double time as a bum-beater when the kids get unruly.

Got to be my Keencut Javelin – can’t beleive I’ve wasted so much time in the past cutting PVC board with a stanley knife!

I would have to say the spread sheet we use for calculating sign prices. Not equipment as such – but a very useful tool all the same.

Our Leister Uniplan hot air welder.
    We have two.

We use them for small banners and big signs (billboards).

It welds together, for instance, two pieces of panelled PVC sheet.
    Works perfect.

    The biggest signs we’ve made this way were 4×20 m and 2.50 x 50 m

    The front door key.
Everything else is quite useless without it. 🙄 😉 (?) (?)

However, Peter will only remain a useful piece of equipment if he is regularly serviced 😉

Certainly my keencut is one of the best tools I have ever purchased. Being the 2500mm model, bit heavy to handle single handed, but ironically if I’d used it instead of my scalpel last week, I’d still have the use of both 😳

and my other ‘best buy’ is my ezy taper. Used it one handed all day today without a drama.

Other than that, my parents save my day more than I care to admit. I don’t tell them tho coz they’d probably ask for pay!! 😉
