    Hi Everyone

    I have a customer who wants their business name on the side of the van in reflective blue ( the same colour as police cars)

    I`m sure I`ve read/heard this is a no no.

    Can anyone enlighten me

    Denise I don’t think there is a restriction on using blue on the side of a vehicle, no white on the back & no red at the front & no using the battenberg colours the emergency services use are the only ones I know about

    Hi Denise

    I’ve just copied this from some of our company literature, hope it helps.

    Corporate and Advertising Graphic

    If the retro-reflective material is intended to promote the company livery or logo, then ONLY reflective graphics using class ref.1 material (Engineering Grade) can be used. The colours should be as follows;

    Front – Any colour EXCEPT red

    Sides – Any colour

    Rear – RED

    Reflective sheeting products of class ref. 2 or Diamond Grade material SHOULD NOT be used for any corporate and advertising graphics on vehicles.

    Hope that helps……..Police cars etc are mostly class ref 2

    Engineering grade is the same as on a number plate, Class ref. 2 has the honey comb

    Adrian you will probably find that the only reason you haven’t been pulled over for it is because no one seems to know the correct specification for vehicles. Just look at some of the vehicles on the road round this way, chevrons on an escort vehicle in red & white & red & blue. These guys work with the police all the time so surely someone should have said something by now.
    Engineering grade used for Highway maintenance vehicles, admittedly the ones I have seen have been the right colour lol.
    I suspect black shouldn’t be used on the back of a vehicle but like I say no one seems to either know or care.
