  • what is the easiest fixing method of using di-bond?

    Hi all,

We have been asked to produce 37 different one off hazchem boards measuring 900 x 600mm that are to be fixed to a wall. We can produce the graphics on our Cadet but I was thinking about using di-bond (or similar) as the backing board. Having never used this stuff before, what thickness would you recommend using and can we buy it cut to right size? Also, what is the easiest fixing method?

Usually we would have "slapped" it on 10mm foamex, but having read the various comments on this site I have decided to branch out into the wonderful would of di-bond.

    Cheers

there is not much colour choice with the leboard, it comes in smaller sheet size too i think. largest 8×4 could be wrong on that… also finishes gloss/silk etc its perfect for what your wanting to do though and doesnt get grubby like foamex, just wipes clean.

The leboard is definitely a cheaper alternative, thanks.

Do Europoint offer a cutting service, if not what is the easiest way to cut it?

Yep they do cut to size, but it can be cut with a stanley believe it or not. Also the centre is not recycled plastic as with Dibond, and the surface paint is different to Dibond but that is getting techical.
The back of Leboard is a creamy colour rather than white so if it gets damage in transit you can’t turn it over.

    Thanx Dave,

As we will cover with vinyl overlay colour is not a problem. I will phone Europoint in the morning for a sample.

Any ideas on the best way to fix to a wall?

    Cheers

Best get at least 3mm if the wall is not nice and smooth, as the panel can easily distort, also don’t tighten the screws up real tight as it will pull the board in creating distortion. I use these concrete screw from Wurth Scotland, just drill the wall and screw straight in. I countersink them then cover with a vinyl circle to hide the screw head and protect from the elements, nice and neat.

    Thanks for that.

Basically fix it the same as foamex then.

Will post some pics of finished job, might take a bit of time as there are 37 bits of artwork to do first.

    Cheers
