  • What is the best way to bond Paper to Foamex or Foam Board?

Posted by AndrewKelsall on 4 May 2010 at 17:36

    Hi everyone,

I am planing to bond some large, 2m wide Inkjet prints to Black Foamex. What is the best method of sticking the prints to it? I’m thinking either 3M spray77 or glue. But is there a better (and cheaper method)?

Is there a special glue which will do the job? Will trusty PVA work – and last?

    Any advice is appreciated…

    Hi Andrew

You could either print to a vinyl and then just apply to the board but if already printed then double sided mounting tape would probably be the easiest and neatest job you could do.

    cheers

    Thanks Warren.

I’ve used spray plenty of times before, but never mounting tape. Is it easy to apply on large areas? Is it very forgiving (can I press down and reposition if necessary)?

Oh, I forgot to mentions that I will be cutting out sections from these boards with a router, so i’ll need to cover the entire board. Is the Mounting tape you refer to come in large industrial sheets?

    Cheers 🙂

best to apply with a laminator but not necessary, it comes in rolls but not sure of the width, mine is 1067mm wide to fit my laminator.

It has a fairly high tack and haven’t tried repositioning anything but have removed some before and did come off fairly easily.

Maybe ask for a sample from your supplier, I got mine from Robert Horne.

    cheers
