what do you all think of my new logo?
Posted by WP_Graphics on 26 January 2003 at 20:26Here I am again…
Things have changed over the past couple of weeks in the way that I’m going to go for the motor trade in a big way, taking on larger premises and employing somebody but I will be incorporating the signs in quite a big way too…
I need a new logo as it has been like this from the start and is – basically – boring!
Here it is as it stands http://www.wallaceperformance.co.uk/images/wallace_banner.jpg
And here is what I’ve whipped up… Please slate it as much as you all can 😆

To be truthful i’d prefer something more like the old one but tweeked
to be punchierIf you want it to look classy dont put them large starbursts in I think they look cheesy if you have to use them, make em more subtle
Do you use p/ shop ? pehaps something eyecatching that could be printed would be nice
If your competing in an image influenced market your appearance is so importantI still cant understand why you’ve not gone for Mikes design
good luck with your plans

i think as far as vinyl work is concerned, your new design is excellent! well done. i wouldnt slate it by any means..
but sit back and look at it asa first time passer by..what does it say to you? “wallace” could be william wallace 😛 and performance is performance… what i mean is its not spelling out a meesage it doesnt tell me what it promotes… sells… whatever!
looking at you old design i can honestly say i prefer it! i dont like the font and the large letters but the overall design means more to me than the forst. even thought there probably has been a bit of work in the later..
the car image works.. ide keep it next to the text because the names/words dont mean much alone. i dont mean this in a slagging off way.. purely constructive critisism.. both are very good designs…
THE SHADOW ETC IN THE BACKGROUND IS GOOD BECAUSE ITS A LITTLE DIFFERNT FROM THE NORM… I WOULD MAYBE TRY A DIFFERNT CAR IMAGE THOUGH I KNOW ITS A GOOD CAR BUT doesnt immediatly hit me as a performance type car… maybe im wrong and its just me..
well ill leave these commenst for now.. hope it helps in some way..
im sure others will be able to come up with somthing also…. -

I would have Terry but I need to get the Wallace Performance across more with the performance parts rather than the graphics. ie, if I make a good sign, people will say “who made your sign” 😀 and I will say, it wasn’t me, it was the boy’s off UK signgroups! 😆 😆
I don’t use paintshop but I’d be willing to try it..
Rob, I see what you’re saying, I would prefer to try and keep as much of it as possible just vinyl but maybe you’re right, the odd pic of a car might be good….
I’ll have another go!!

gav,
I can understand where you are coming from. I was trying to do the same thing as you are. I know business is probally not the same across the big pond.
I ended up seperating my business and have a lot better revenue.
I actually had to end up splitting mine up in to three,(Pearson Automotive, MPM Racing Technology and Pro Graphics.)
This has helped me, I just thought I would share this. The sign business is going to be my main focus for 2003, I’m hoping to be able to live up to some of the great work I’ve seen the UK masters doing.

Rob don’t slag the car off in the logo, its Gav’s 😆. Gav who are you pitching the sales at, if its the Max Power brigade then all you need is lots of pictures of stereo kit and semi naked large breasted blondes and that should do the trick 😆
Have a look at Mikes CD he did a sign for a similar company, something kilns, hit thge nail on the head with that one, nice and understated , classy, I would say thats the sort of customer you want, not the spotty baseball cap backwards brigade.
Had one of these old boys turn up on Saturday, “do you do winda tintin mate?” under my breath ‘NO ?*!K @FF U Little ******’ but smiling ” no mate but I know a man that does heres his number” “Ta mate how much do you fink he will charge to do me Corsa den” “about £150 pal” “kinhell my mate did his own only cost him the price of the stuff” at this point I lost it big time 😆 😆 and the only thing stopping me ripping his spotty little head off was I did’nt want his blood on my new shoes 😆 😆 , you should have seen his car, 3 grands worh of body kit, a stereo system that Fat Boy Slim would have drooled over and 20 quid remoulds 😆 😆 😆.
Anyway think about who you would prefer to sell to Gav and design accordingly. -
😆 😆 😆 😆 *rofl* 😆 😆 😆 *rofl* *rofl* *rofl*
That’s a brilliant post – Rob, that’s my pick of the best posts!! 😆
You are quite right steve, it’s not them I’m after really but they all come up with the £’s…
I’ll have a look at mikes design…

Hi Terry,
That certainly looks very sexy!! I’m not sure if it’s the colours that I’d of chosen and I was going to try to make it out of cut vinyl more than a digital print hence I can hand out a vinyl “sticker” to customers that doesn’t cost the earth to print 😆 .
I’m trying to think of a way that I could use your idea but just use cut vinyl… (-)

I was only fiddling around I didnt know your preference for colours or how you were intending to use it

Gav, sit down and read your last post out loud !! Then tell yourself you are a silly billy.
You own a pc600 so you could run these labels off for customers to put on their cars for buttons. If you are going to do them in vinyl how many colour will they be ? Think of the time you are going to spend cutting, weeding and making up labels if they are more than one colour and then tell me you couldnt spend that time more productivly.
As for the colours, if you do end up using a design like terrys dont change the colours. It works really well as it is and if you start changing the colours you will probably lose a lot of the impact.
Terry great design mate, if gavin doesnt use it I’m sure I will be able to adapt it to something in the near future !!! -
Me again
ive just done another four in signlab Gav as cdl,s ,these are all one colour but i dont know how to post them
Thanks, martin if they are of use to you or anyone your welcome
though i need help to post these -HOW? -
When I design layouts/logos, I normally make sure it works in B/W and then add colours, that way you know that printing costs can be limited but still have a good impact and be linked to a full colour version.
Take Terry’s first post, if you liked that, printed it in limited numbers for those that you want to have a colour version, then do a single colour version, taking away the chrome bevel and yellow fade, you still have strong typefaces, and a swoosh. If you want to have a bunch in your shop/display area for people to pick up as and when.
Just a thought….

They are cool Terry!
I particlularly like the last two.. I’ve been speaking with Steve about this and he has come up with the idea of putting an outline image behind one of these… Then I’ll have a play about with the colours and hopefully come up with a cracker!!
What’s the chance’s you could e-mail these to me as an *.AI file…. 🙄 😆
Cheers!
