What colour reflective is allowed on rear of vehicles?
Posted by Lorraine Clinch on 6 October 2011 at 16:38I’ve been requested to use white reflective on a wheelcover, but not sure if it is allowed, and unable to find the thread about this. If not white, what is allowed?
As the job is for the ambulance 1st responders service I think I should get it correct!
Thanks :lol1:Lorraine

Thanks Chris, I thought that was the case, customer will be OK with yellow, unless anyone else has other info.

Guidelines are – no red on front, no white on rear, but these are only guidelines not law; there is a possibility that if an accident occurs then the party other than the ‘wrongly’ reflectived vehicle could use that as part of the evidence in their favour, i.e. vehicle ignored Government guidelines which contributed to the accident.

Way back when I lived in London I did the first thousand or so Addison Lee black MPVs, using white reflective in the rear window. John Griffin – the MD, was in a constant legal battle with the cab office for advertising, but he never got into trouble for the reflective thing.

Recent changes to the ADR rules here in Australia stipulate no white on the rear, and no red on the front when it comes to reflective. Apparently some people may confuse you with ‘going’ instead of ‘coming’ if they see red on the front, or visa versa for white on the rear. 🙄
