What are you go to board types?
Posted by Daniel Evans on 8 August 2016 at 10:07Hi guys
I’m trying to be a bit more proactive and rather than be told what board the client wants I’m thinking of offering them 3 choices, a 1mm semi-rigid board, 3mm rigid board and a 3mm composite, also helps with pricing.
What boards to you guys tend to use more of so I can work out what’s the best options are for me?
Thank you.

I would have to say 5mm Foam is the most popular but I normally keep a stock of
0.6mm Stauffen
3mm Foam Board
5mm Foam Board
3mm CompositeAnd sometimes a 3mm Hoarding Board but only for trade customers.

5mm is a popular choice, wasn’t sue if that was just me offering it to them though.

We have not used foamex for years.
Hoarding panel for cheaper signs, diabond or Perspex for better signsLess stock IMO

5mm Correx
3mm quality composite.
2mm White faced Aluminium.Like Denise, I try not to use Foamex and haven’t for many years, but we do get occasional orders specifying it, but other than that. nothing.

I don’t really do much work anymore but didn’t tend to stock to much in the way of board when I was working, most suppliers offer next day delivery so was always easy enough to buy in the right type of board for the job I was doing. Always had a few offcuts of various types of board if someone needed something in a hurry & it wasn’t to big 😆
What you haven’t said Daniel is what the board would be used for, size & type of sign you are producing will generally dictate what would be best for the job.

Just general enquires, trying to limit the stock I buy in and get faster with quotes.
I’m now limiting my vinyl stock to one supplier and a limited amount of colours as suggested by Rob, also where do you get the white aluminium sheets from? I like the sound of them.

Same as Denise for me.
3mm Hoarding composite for most trade signs who request the best price.
3mm Dibond or Amari equivalent composite for those you can explain the difference of quality and lifespan to.
