what are the different options for shopfront facias

Howdy all,

im lookin to pick some brains again!

a customer wants a new shopfront fascia done but has no specific idea in mind, i think it was basic wooden cutout letters before and she doesn’t want the same as they went a bit soggy/rotten, i suggested yellow acrylic prismatic type lettering on red dibond as there is lighting already in place just above the fascia. what are the different options i could recommend for shopfront fascias ?

and also do you guys use a portfolio or catalog to show examples to the customer when your doing sales ?

any advice much appreciated

Get a complete facia priced from Morans Wood Components. Did one a while back in marine grade ply that was deep routed with the name.

Hey Graeme thats a class job really like the projecting sign too, i wanna do as much of the work on this sign as i can to help the margin and my experience, im even considering hand painting it in gold with a drop shadow although it think the Chinese characters would be tricky, is there any good tutorials for traditional signwriting ?

If its in Chinese on a red background, Gold Leaf would be the thing to use. It would look nice. I am only guessing at the red background though.

Hey David your guess was spot on, the original colour scheme was red and yellow using the bonzai font, handpainted gold leaf would look good but im not sure i have the skills yet, i’ll suggest it to the customer and see what they think, its that or prismatic acrylic lettering painted or gold leaf they’re the options so far

Have you any experience using a brush or gold leaf and traditional lettering?

Cheers Neil, looks very steep but also looks like very satisfying work, thanks for the links, gonna get some supplies to have a play with,

just shown the customer the design and they’re impressed and have asked for a price, gonna go with a mix of prismatic and vinyl probably on dibond,

what are the options for fixing a dibond fascia id like to hide the fixings if possible will i have to consider a frame around the edges ?
