Welcome to the boards!
Be prepared for a steep learning curve! 😮
Best bit of advice I can give (with my very limited knowledge compared to some peeps on here) is keep it busy. Dont let it sit in the corner for days on end idle as just like my missus, they get grumpy if they oversleep! 😀 😀
Blocked heads and waste pipes etc.

thank you for your replies. i am new to forums ect, i will say hello ect in the other section , i done my research and i guess i just wanted to know from people that are using them, that gives a far better view than manufacturers, i have been working with vinyls for the past 6 years in my humble dwelling in kent but my customer demands have pushed me towards investment in a solvent, but at the same time i wanted a printer that could also cut, the last post before this says keep it working, lets hope so, if i can i will, that’s why i purchased it, but unfortunately that may be difficult to start but fingers crossed, it is on the original ink cartridges, is it better to stay with them at first , forgive the trivial questions but i have to start some where, thanks again

Hi Darren
I would not be without mine now. It is doing more and more work all the time. Jobs that we would have done in vinyl before are now so much easier print and cut. Also the limitations of vinyl become very apparent once you get used to designing for print as well as cut vinyl.
It is also very reliable – just remember to put some ink through it every 2nd day if it’s not in constant use.
Good luck with your new purchase

hi Phil , thanks for your advise, i pick it up on Saturday , its paid for , I’m really looking forward to it, you are so right , vinyl is so limited and it kind of broaden s your mind to a whole world of possibilities. i can now think of jobs to massively increase my business, time will tell, its so nice though to talk to people whom have used the machine and have a genuine experience, not just sales pitch,
thanks Phil it is so appreciated

Make a file that is four squares about 50mm and fill each one with the four pure colours and send that to print a couple of times a day, that will keep the heads in use and will use very little ink. Check out some of the old forums regarding full solvent ink as many people have gone back to what the machine was intended to take which was Roland Eco max. The machine is a Roland machine converted by B&P to take full Solvent inks, but this wears out the heads.
We had a cadet that ate about Eight heads until it was converted back to Eco sol and at the start of the year we bought a new machine but this time went straight for the Roland with Eco Max inks. Also make sure you get an Extracter or you’ll get poisoned. -
I have a Grenadier which is basically the 6 colour version of the Cadet, best advice i can offer is set aside a time each week to clean it. I clean mine on Friday afternoons, it does not take long I wipe around each head, clean around each capping station squirt flush down both waste pipes and vacuum the bed, 10-15 minutes tops, I regularly leave mine for 5-6 days doing nothing and it is fine.
Regards
Russell.

thanks guys for the advise, I’m learning all the time, the machine has had a couple of weeks now not used since the shop shut so i will clean before use , i think Russell’s advise on once a week program, I’ll do that thanks

i really like the mirror one very funny :lol1:
sorry about my stupid post as well. i was actually hoping i could program a key on my calculator or something. wonder it that is possible.
I type square meters all the time but when you work in mm for everything design software, quotes etc. I just thought i could type with my calculator in mm and then buy a simple division i could get square metres. but i think dividing by 1000000 all the time may prove even more of a pain then just putting in the decimal point.
UNLESS.. you live in zimbabwe. then you will be used to it. 😀

sorry i just posted that on the wrong forum teaches you a lesson for having 10 tabs open at once. hope a mod can delete it for me thanks

by the way make sure you test the machine before you take full delivery of it. who is going to install it for you. are you having a professional do the job. Also are you having it transported correctly.
just worried that you will try and do your first print and then it wont even work. Heads can dry out very quickly believe me.
I have had a head dry up in the space of 5mins if it is not exposed to the right elements.
you can recover the head but if its been for weeks it may be unrecoverable.you just need to be very careful.
