  • What are options to print on inside of the windows?

Posted by Mariusz Czarnota on 9 May 2019 at 12:24

Hi, got several requests for prints that will be installed inside of the windows. They want opaque not transparent, and I don’t have white ink in my printer. Graphics also require to be contour cut, so unsure how mounting double side glue film would cut after laminate on top of print? White static cling from my understanding should be applied on unprinted side to glass, how would work if printed side would be used instead? Customer to install himself so backing up transparent print with white vinyl would be a problems with registration correctly as its also 2m by 60cm long print so pretty big.. Was also thinking to "laminate" with white vinyl over print on transparent (in reverse) with registration marks uncovered and ten back to cutter and cut in both foils.. Any tried this method?
    Whats my other options?
    Thanks

We do this now & again, just cover the registration marks with some app tape before laminating with white, trim out the tape & cut as usual. I don’t use static cling much but I think it’s available in white as well as clear

I would print in reverse on clear laminate the over laminate with frost film (etch)

Looks vibrant and gives a great opaque finish

Just remember to cut out the reg marks if contour cut

Yes, good idea and possibly good looking but etch film would add cost and they already moan about price… And not fully opaque which they want.
Would do same with white monomeric vinyl..
Is there difference in quality printing on laminate vs clear printable vinyl?
    thx
