Well done VTS Service
I am usually the first to complain when things go wrong, and rarely don’t praise people enough when they do a good job. What a breath of fresh air dealing with VTS.
Tuesday my RS-640 went down, loosing the Black print head, my own fault finding and testing turned up no results so contacted a company about coming out to repair the poorly machine. They talked me through some other tests I could do, and finally diagnosed the fuse had blown on the main board for the black head… looking my service manual I find that the fuse is for two heads and therefore couldn’t be that as I would loose both print heads not one. I decide that maybe I should find another engineer to speak to.
I remember getting and e-mail from VTS, and scanned through my inbox to get a number, speaking with Marc, he explained my options and got an engineer to call me back within the hour.
The engineer listened to what tests I’d tried, and explained the possible cause was a transducer on the main board being faulty. He advised that they would try and replace the component before replacing a whole main board at over £1000, they ordered the board just in case.
09:15 the board arrives by courier 09:30 Andy is on site and straight into the machine.
Thankfully he repaired the board 😀 replaced the manifold on the Cyan head, and found a fault with the Magenta. Rathe than just storming in and doing the work he showed me the test print, and the fault causing the problem (another manifold) before changing that one too.
A good clean and once over the machine, I am back up and running for less than 25% of the ‘worse case’ quotation.
It’s the first time I’ve had to contact an engineer, and I was apprehensive of being ripped off, but I am delighted at their service.
A massive thanks to VTS!
