    Hi all.
I’ve been looking in to setting up a web site for customers to buy my printing services direct from it.
It appears to be a bit of a minefield to set up with there being so many variables of job to consider.

While researching the subject I stumbled across some web 2 print software providers and I wondered what peoples experiences were. There is quite an outlay involved either as a one off payment or monthly subscription.
Do many of you use them?
Do you get enough work through it to make it worthwhile?
Are there any recommendations or horror stories?

I look forward to your responses.

    Cheers

I’ve looked at this, and always arrived at the same conclusion.

As you say, it’s a fair outlay for the software. Many are template based, and you still have to design the templates, source stock logos, backgrounds etc. The deaigner apps aren’t always user friendly and limited.

There are loads of websites selling print, and many I suspect don’t own anything more than a laptop, and outsource it… price seems to be main selling point.

That said if you have a nieche it can work. Or if you can provide a local, quicker service than others.

I’m running a Versacamm VS540i Robert configured CMYK lm lc lk wh.

    Thanks David for your reply.
I agree, there are some sites that aren’t great and others that are pretty smart. I’m thinking of streamlining my production a little as lack of space is an issue for us. Rather than stocking vinyl for cad cutting, boards for mounting etc. maybe go down this path.

We were tight on space (820sq/ft) up until recently, when we knocked into the unit next door and doubled the floor space, although we’ve not really gained much production space as next door is for installing vehicle graphics.

There are other ways to compete than on price… you’re along the right lines 😉
