    quote James Langton:

Just a quick question, my mutoh rockhopper 3 seems to have a wavy banding issue when printing at 360dpi, but when printing at 720dpi the print is fine. Is this normal for banding to happen at 360dpi.

Iv enabled the wave printing, which i thought was meant to decrease the chances of banding.

Heres a picture of it printed onto banner @ 360dpi

Sorry- but this gave my a chuckle. I just got back from ISA and had some prasing the Mutoh line and how they don’t get banding because of "wavy" passes that they made.

I responded saying – your just going to get wavy banding instead of straight banding – but the guy said no way.

Do you have a feed comp setting on this printer (or probably called something else?) Try setting it to the lowest setting and then work up from there. You’l find you’ll get REALLY bad banding at first, but slowly work your way up until the problem goes away. Now thats only if its a feed-comp (the rate the machine pulls the material at per pass) issue. The problem could also be because of miss-firing nozzles, miss-aligned heads, heat, or a variety of other issues.
