…sounds fishy to me.
I’ll be he did pressure-wash it, or maybe took it thru an automatic car wash.
That being said, Avery had a bad batch of vinyl here last year.
After a few months, the adhesive let go and the vinyl shrank.
But it’s only been a week…I suspect customer fubar.

A car wash or pressure wash should not lift vinyl, unless it was not fitted correctly, or there is a material fault.
Have you had any other problems with the same roll of vinyl?
Is it fitted to flat panels or round curves/indents.
Was it fitted wet or dry, were any chemicals used to prep befor application? perhaps if you could give a few more details it would help to pin point the reason.

Deleted User4 October 2005 at 12:45hi, i used methylated spirits to clean the bus and its applied directly onto aflat panel, its only on one side and its only a few letters. It was also applied dry, i never do vinyl wet, too much hassle. I didnt do anything i dont normally do and its funny its only one side. The bus wasnt waxed or anything beforehand as the vinyl stuck perfectly.

If its only a few letters perhaps you missed a bit when cleaning, I would just replace the offending letters. Cant think of anything obvious as to why only a few letters have flaked.
perhaps vandals had a go at it?peter

hi david 😀
when you say flaked….do you mean the vinyl flaked….or the whole letter flaked taking paint off the vehicle, what i mean is was the paint colour of the van underneath the vinyl? only asking in case it was a badly sprayed panel 😕 😀

every now and then we sometimes get problems with the residue that the purple meths can leave behind, now we clean with meths then spray and clean with water to remove the residue. Just a thought! 😀

Prior to application of a new logo on my truck,
I cleaned off stubborn glue residue from the last logo
(I switch my designs a lot on that truck)
with regular mineral spirits, then cleaned with Windex.
When I took that logo off last spring, 2 years later,
it peeled off my clear coat!
Now I always use Goo Gone or Rapid Remover to clean off old adhesive.

David, has that side of the vehicle had a repair?
They may have recently had a spray job. I had a job like this, and the painter had put an incorrect amount of hardner in the paint, causing it to cure too slow, and where it had been repaired, my signs peeled around the edges.
I left it a fortnight, resigned the damaged letters, never seen him since
