    Hi There,

    I have a Roland SC-540.

I’m having a bit of a nightmare here! I had a problem where the white card cable belt broke, so I replaced that and had an engineer in to check it was all okay, and it was working fine. We then gave the machine a full service and it was printing lovely!

Today we started to print on the Roland today and the print seems to be wandering, when it did this previously I would clean the encoder strip and it was all okay. Tried to clean it today and then run a print and it was wandering again. The encoder strip seemed a little slack, so I fastened it back into place and still nothing.

Any suggestions? I’m pulling my hair out here!! :hung:

    Regards,

    Matt

    Paul
could possibly be the sensor that reads the encoder strip, by the sounds of it you know your way around the machine try cleaning by lightly running a cloth through or use compressed air to blow it, but not out of a compressor used the canned stuff what they use for computers etc

All I know I self taught, just trail and error! I’ve not had any experience as to where the sensor is.

The engineer that was here cleaned the machine from top to bottom for me, so I imagine he would have cleaned that.

I take it the sensor is on the carriage that sits infront of the encoder strip?

the sensor is at the top right of the rear of the head carriage.
the encoder strip is fixed at the right end. make sure it is.
and sprung loaded at the left end, make sure that it is sitting in the grove over the entire length.
