Wall Mounted Cutters 2.5 metre
Posted by KevinGaffney on 7 March 2017 at 09:15Looking at buying a wall mounted cutter in next two months. Local supplier does the Apollo make. Ill be using it 90% corribord cutting, the rest being composite and 5 or 10mm pvc. Anyone got any experience of these or other suggestions?

Hi Kevin,
check out the steeltrak system.
You can get them to cut 96" tall panels now.
Handy with the groove tool to create the sign trays also.Use mine every day.

Thanks Philip. Roughly how much is that unit? Its the 2.5 one I need. Think they were doing really good specials on those last year at sign UK but I wont make it this year unfortunately

We have a inglet verdi vertical saw and we are very impressed with it. Very easy to use and very accurate.

Thanks Dan. Had originally looked at these but as 90% of our cutting is correx, it’s overkill for what we need and a big price difference too

You can cut 8 sheets of correx at once it is a real time saver. We love it

I have the Steeltrack 210 and wouldn’t be without it. It cuts composite, correx and Foamboard with ease and best of all is dust free and very safe to use. The V groove tool is a big bonus too allowing you to make folded pans but I am limited to the maximum length of 2.1M with my machine and would prefer to be able to cut and groove a 2.5M sheet length ways. If I was buying another it would be the 2.5M length but this wasn’t available when I bought mine .

I’ve steeled on that one Phil in the 2.5m version. Would have ordered at sign uk but not travelling now due to the unfortunate events at Westminster. Wife not happy to fly to uk at moment.

Good day folks.
This question is about Keencut Steeltrack 210 / 250
Imagine you cut 2000mm x 1000mm in half to get 2 x 1000mm x 1000mm pieces.
After you’ve done the cut, are they both pieces in in good (ready to use) condition?
I can see that the Dibond curves a little in the cutting process, is that something to worry about?
-
Good question – and a valid point to consider
It depends on the width of the piece you are cutting. A thin strip to the left of the cutting blade will curve a little or a lot depending on its width. A piece 1000mm wide wont curve at all whereas a thing strip say 50mm wide will have a lut of curvature to it.
-
I will be OK discarding 100mm pieces as I don’t keep them.
Above 100mm will be a bit of a waste if they bend.
Thanks Phill!
