    Hi all,

Was hoping and wondering if anyone has used/purchased a Wacom Cintiq graphics tablet. I think these new tablets definately offer the "proper" ease of use as its very touch on demand with regards to how they work with the touch screen monitor. I just have these few questions:

for some reason these tablets are over 1k RRP but they appear to be very cheap on ebay ranging from about £350.00. Are these fakes??

I would love to try before I buy so anybody know of any stores which demo these??

Anybody have one?? If so what do you think of it??

    Thank you!! 😀 😀 😀

if its to good to true…(bargains on ebay)

I have seen the official sales video and the tablets look fantastic.
if you are familiar with tablets, and use them as an everyday tool, then by all means spend up to 2k, if it is cost effective.

Otherwise don’t waste your money. A tablet will not improve your artistic ability, they are just tools.

it is similar to someone thinking they can spend lots of money on brushes, and become a better painter.

    Hello Soyeb,
I don’t know if this will help, but I have had, and used a ‘basic’ Wacom tablet for quite a few years, and find that results often depend on the software you use it with 🙁

For instance, with Corel Painter, it’s brilliant, as the software helps you set up the pen accordingly. Whereas with Corel DRAw, it’s abysmal 🙂 .

Obviously the Cintique is a much better model, but I know nothing about that, I’m afraid.

I do have a tip for a cheap, but effective alternative though, if you haven’t used a pen/tablet before.
    Get a Trackman/ball mouse – honestly, it’ll give you a similar response.

    Hope it helps………..

they look pretty good soyeb but i would recomend that you find out if the ebay ones are fake or not as its not worth getting a cheap rip off. I have seen them on ebay and they appear to be made in china or japan.

I am sure the iPad is going to be strong in this area. Although it can’t run existing Painter packages etc, I am sure you will be able to get a sketchpad type program that you export into Painter or Photoshop.

It has crossed my mind about the Ipad . The question would be even if Ipad had photoshop/Illustrator availability can it still compete with the wacom Cintiq as there will be pros and cons. i.e Cintic has a powerful pressure sensitvity feature so how important would that be. I guess the only way to tell would be to demo this kind of equipment and see what works best!! I think I’ll wait for a while 😀

Actually I was looking at these As I use a tablet,

But to be honest! For me anyway it would be a very expensive add-on that i don’t really need that much
What I finished up doing was to buy a 19" LCD touchscreen off flea-bay,
I’m making up a little Jig for it so it will drop down into my workbench and then tilt at the correct angle for me when I want to use it,

At the moment Ive tried it free standing and for me it works very well,
Although it certainly doesn’t have the features of the Wacom used with win7 and its touchscreen capability’s its as near as dam-it,
Cost just a tad under £175 So £800 less than the wacom better in my pocket than theirs Ray:)
