    I own it.
It ok as a beginners piece of software.
For some people it is the onmly software they will ever use.
I found though that some of the tutorials don’t come out the way they are explained when you follow them.

I’ve used it since I bought it in 2000!

Fantastic piece of software, and there’s nothing I can’t do with it.

    Wouldn’t use anything else!

    Cheers

Hi there I also use vmp find it pretty good, looking to move on to something else though. I am looking at WinPCSIGN PRO 2007 on ebay but not sure if it’s any good.

Does anyone know the latest prices on signlab? as I would also like to use it.

    Graham Stewart,
I carve stones for a living and use the VMP software to do my design work. I recently went through a divorce and lost the dongle key to my ex.
I am looking for a way to get another one without having to buy it full price from VMP…and I agree with your opinion of them, but already know the program. If you’re interested in selling your dongle key and program, let me know.

    Hi Graham,All

A quick question, What is sign tools 3 like?

Is it worth the money, i am thinking of buying Corel and adding sign tools 3 to it as a starting point. Then maybe upgrading to signlab once I make a bit of money! not cheap to buy a cutter, heat press, vinyl, etc

    cheers

I have used Vinylmaster PRO for a while now, and am very impressed by it. I especially like its built in database of Corporate Logos, and objects (like clipart, only vectored). It also has a tool called Font Detective which is marvelous. I can just load a bitmap image of a mystery letter, tell it what letter it is, and it will launch in search of all installed fonts to find which one it is, or its closest match. It also lets in import/export several different formats (EPS, DXF, JPEG,BMP,AI to name a few). I am very happy with it.
    cheers!

    Hi Guys

Just to let you know that I’ll keep an eye out for any of your questions relating to VinylMaster Pro, FutureRIP and Font Detective.

Also, we’ve just completed the latest beta version of the Vinyl Spooler V2.99 that now supports over 900 plotter models and would like you to try it. There are a number of significant improvements over the old Vinyl Spooler such as built-in USB support, a preview of the cut file with a plotter so you know where it’s going to cut, greatly simplified plotter setup and support of many new models including all the latest Chinese machines and models from Gerber, Graphtec, Mimaki, Roland, Summa and Vinyl Express etc.

This spooler only works with V2.70 and V2.95 of VMP with USB Dongle… you can download it from here: download

It will automatically replace your old spooler and give you the option of retaining all your existing plotter settings that will be automatically updated into the new Spooler!

Nice to see you’re still around Shaun.

I use VMP version 2.0 for all my vinyl work.

I was one of the first to buy VMP in the UK i believe, back around 2000, and have used it ever since (had it sent over from the states as you didn’t have a UK distributor at the time).

When I bought it I was promised future upgrades to newer versions would be free, and the rip would be free as well when it was ready.

When I got back in touch a few years back to avail of the free upgrade to a newer version I was told that the free upgrade no longer applied and I would have to pay, which I declined.
I also know another signmaker who uses the software who had trouble getting his version 2.0 upgraded to 2.5, but he did in the end, but didn’t find it easy from your side.

Now don’t get me wrong, I like the software, and I used to recommend it to other sign people, but I don’t feel very happy about this and would not buy anything else from your company on the basis of this.

You can’t just change you policies to suit yourself at the expense of your customers.

    Cheers
    Joe

    Hi Joe

Our policy hasn’t changed at all… I think you’re mixing up two unrelated points.

All updates (or revisions as some people refer to them) are completely free of charge for each version of the program. My post (above) offering a free update for V2.95 users to the new USB Vinyl Spooler is proof of this.

Version upgrades, however, have always been advertised as half of RRP – this goes back to PlotMaster which was released in 1992… but we’ve actually charged less for the upgrades at around 30% of RRP i.e. USD$149. We even waived the V2.0 to V2.50 upgrade charge and only charged USD$20 for a CD set just to cover our costs… this has always been available to you and all V2.0 users.

You will find free updates for your version Here

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Shaun Morrell

I certainly wasn’t offered that when I enquired about my "free" upgrade.

Your software is still good value for money for what it does.

    Hey Shaun,

Did a waybackmachine search for your old web pages and found this from 2000:

    "How much will upgrades cost?

VinylMaster Pro is continually being improved and updated. Many minor improvements are placed on our web site ***.******-*. com in the downloads section for free download.

When major upgrades are released, they are priced at half RRP for existing users, allowing every one to have the latest version of the program."

    …….so apologies, my mistake. 😳

    Cheers
    Joe

PS I have a demo cd for ver 2.5 already…..how do I do the upgrade (from 2.0)?

Shaun, just a quick note, only the UKSG members can PM as they part of the UK Signmakers Group, also suppliers are actually not allowed to promote themselves but are allowed to talk about their products in reply to questioning messages, if a UKSG members wishes to talk to you then they can ask you via PM, EMail, Website button links. Please make sure your FULL profile details are complete.

    Hope you understand.

    Hi Dave

I do understand the position. That is precisely why I didn’t answer Joe’s question directly because I’m trying to avoid contravening the board’s rules even though we are discussing 5 year old legacy i.e. superseded software and technical questions with their related and entirely free updates.

In other words, it is terribly difficult to avoid self-promotion, which is sometimes difficult to define and still be allowed to answer a legitimate question without being able to send a private message in order to avoid any potential conflict in the first place.

My purpose in monitoring this forum is to answer any technical questions board members may have from time-to-time along with answering any legitimate criticisms.

We do plan to purchase advertising space here to promote our new products when they are released.

    Thank you,
    Shaun Morrell
