I’m making stencils for painting canvas and the vinyl I’ve been using isn’t sticking as well as I’d like. I always PVA the canvas (after applying the vinyl) to minimise bleed through and this helps to seal the edges, but I’d feel more comfortable if I had a vinyl which hugged the canvas better while I painted around it.

Any suggestions? I’ve seen the Doro Tape website which advertises ‘paint mask’, is this cut and mounted in the same way as vinyl? Has anyone used it?

    Thanks in advance

The paint mask is cut and applied in the exactly same way as vinyl but it is designed for use on vehicle paint, or similar surfaces, where it will come off easily without leaving any adhesive behind. It’s the same theory as masking tape.

It’s a good product but won’t do your job.

Masking tape adheres well to canvas, masking tape in 54″ roll form would be ideal :lol1:

I suppose the answer is, as always, get a sample and try it. 😀

I don’t know about 54″ though, you migt have to make do with 48″

TanMan. Oracal do a paint mask vinyl, one for had surfaces and one for soft banner style surfaces. One is translucent blue and the other is translucent grey.

I have used them both and they work well. I think it is the grey one you want to try. If you call the distributor, they will probably give you a sample to try.

When you peel it off, it does not leave any glue either.
