  • Vinyl tools & vinyls – what do you use?

I’ve finally got set up, bought a Graphtec CE3000-60, got a sample roll of vinyl and I’m linked up to a Mac outputting through Illustrator.

First few practise cuts are going well but obviously I need some materials and tools now to practise some applications.

I’ve contacted some of the suppliers in the suppliers list so I’ve got some catalogues on the way. But just to pre-empt that I’d like to ask a couple of questions:

I know it’s going to be a lot down to personal taste, and trial and error but starting from scratch with nothing for comparison…

    1. what tools, gadgets and products couldn’t you live without
    2. what are your preferred vinyls and application tapes etc.

    thanks.

3M Gold Squeegee, Soft Squeegee, Metal safety Ruler 1200mm, lint free rags, Good quality blade, 6" ruler, auto grade masking tape, 8 metre tape measure.

Paper application tape for general work, conform clear tape for layered work. Oracal 551 for general signage, Oracal 751c for the ‘difficult’ signage.

I like my felt squeegee, and pretty much what Shane says otherwise… I like Olfa knives and blades and 6 inch razor blades (I forget the make) for cleaning windows prior to application.
