Hi Guys. I have a customer who has walls that have a slightly sheen surface, (Almost shiny) The vinyl i used was Macal 8200 matt black it would not stick and fell off the wall, It left no residue on the wall or anything behind.

Can anyone suggest anything to make the vinyl stick or even a different vinyl that will deff stick.
The customer told me the paint used was Dulux emulsion soft sheen??????????????????????????????

I am totally puzzled but don’t want to give up on this one.

    Thanks very much

    Jo

Hi Jo-Ann, I’ve never applied vinyl to walls before but how long ago was the wall painted as I think it makes a difference.

    Cheers John

Have had huge issues with soft sheen too…as it seems to always have a silicone or oil residue…ended up signwriting it with a brush

Ive been sticking vinyls to exhibition walls painted with matt emulsion for years and the only time I have a problem sticking is if the colour is yellow or green?
almost all vinyls stick to black, white, grey, blue walls.
I usually use x-film vinyls in matt. these are quite thick and certainly stick very well.
Never tried sticking to a "soft sheen" though

If the wall has been painted leaving an "orange peel" effect i.e. lots of little peaks this can hold the adhesive off the wall and stop it from adhering.
Try giving the wall a very light sanding ( in an inconspicuous area first)
    This may help.
Also try a low tac app tape or leave the vinyl on a while before trying to remove the app tape
