  • Vinyl falling off rollers, Graphtec ce5000-120 help!

Hey guys, just a quick one, this is really getting on my last nerve, i’ve always had a problem with vinyl coming off rollers, and don’t get me started on t-shirt vinyl that’s not on 3" cores.

Just a brief description of what i’m doing, there is the rack on the back of the cutter with the 3 grooves for the 2 poles, i have tried both the poles on the outer grooves so it leaves the wider gap and the vinyl roll just sits on the poles. When the vinyl cuts it jerks the vinyl and it falls through the gap and drops to the floor (This is very near the end of the roll) so i put both poles in the grooves closet to the cutter so the gap closes, now when the vinyl cuts it plus it off the front of the poles and drops to the floor.

Does anyone have an issue with the graphtec and vinyl crashing to the floor?

Unwind enough vinyl for the job before cutting or feed the roller through the tube.
Unwinding is kinder on the machine though, especially if using a heavy roll.

You should have two core holders that go into the ends of the cardboard tubes and sit in grooves on the rollers, this stops the vinyl falling through.

as mr Dee says Mechanical sympathy is every thing next you will be complaining the motors are burnt out and the drive mech is sloppy doing it your way also leads to poor tracking and poor shapes and loop closing.

who’s a naughty boy then 😉 go to the corner and no milk for you.

there is in some software and plotter settings a feature to pre feed the amount of vinyl to be cut

Sometimes I thread my tube through the damn roll of vinyl like a roll of toilet paper on a spool.
It helps it to stay in place on longer jobs.
Then of course pre-feed, a real pain in the tush too.
This is the one thing I absolutely loathe about my Graphtec.
