Chris, this may not be the same issue, but I have had issues with VersaWorks not recognising the contour Cut when I send files directly from Illustrator. In my case, I get the following message when sending the Illustrator File ’When spot colours are used with transparency, changing them to process colors outside of illustrator can generate unexpected results.'
Sure enough, VW does not recognise any of the Cut-Contour commands etc.

What I end up doing is selecting the complete image, with the exception of the Roland Commands and Rasterising it. Then bring the Roland command stuff to the front (Cut_Contour) and then print it to VW and all works fine.

As I say, it may have nothing to do with your issue, but thought I would mention it just in case.

john the VDP_ colour had to be in the roland colour spot swatch i had made a nice new palette which it did not like.
and its a hairline outline colour not a fill with no fill, i haven’t printed it yet but all looks well sorted on the screen.
had 350 serial no,s to do and thought time to get to grips with the data thingy.
within VW changing the text styles and sizes quite easy to fit the box
max 250 off found that out and found the quick way in excel to increment numbers with the drag of a mouse.
pleased i put the time to it.
