All my cut work is done in illustrator using their cutcontour plugin.
When I cut a long bit of vinyl eg 2metres, it randomly cuts bits of the job over all the sheet, pulling it in and out of the machine which takes a long time and also there is more room for error if it slips slightly. There doesn’t seem any logic to the way the rip interprets the file.
Is there a way of making or simplifying the file so it simply cuts from front to back as it feeds out?

    Thanks a lot

It seems to cut illustrator files in order they were drawn, i would like to know if there is a workarround aswell

What’s weird is the files are often text files that are then outlined so they are not generated in a strange order.
If the rip does them in the order they were created then it should cut all the type block in one go but it tends to cut bits of letters, O’s for example, on the outside and then go back the inside cuts later.

hi nick, i found exactly the same thing, it was shooting from back to front so i re put on the artwork in the order wanted it to cut and re saved and it now cuts in order, basically the first thing to land on the illustrator file is the first thing it will cut and last etc etc. hope this helps. roberts totally right, not sure if theres any workaround though.
