VERSACAMM SP-300 – Colour CHART
Posted by Kate and Danny on 28 November 2005 at 11:10Hi,
I’ve just printed out the ROLAND COLOR CHART on my versacamm sp-300 ( normal eco-sol inks – not upgraded yet!), and everything that should be blue is purple.
I know blue is a problem with CMYK, but I’m not sure what I should (and shouldn’t ) be fiddling with in COLORIP to try and get something more resembling blue.
Hopefully someone will be able to help.

[quote="Kate and Danny"]Hi,
I’ve just printed out the ROLAND COLOR CHART on my versacamm sp-300
How do you do that, is it in the RIP programme or through the printer menu?
-
You should have it on the disc some were. It’s an eps file and you just open it and print it onto you different materials and keep it so that you can use it to check the colours printed.
All you do then is look on the printed chart for the colour you want and use them settings in the file, so even if it doesn’t look right on screen you know it’s going to print that colour.
If you want colour matching then you’ll have to go through the whole colour matching process, screen printer etc, there is no easy way but you can get close with just a good setup.

I actually downloaded it from roland support…i think legacy support sp-300. should be there.
Can anyone help me with how to get away from purple and more towards blue?

Is it blue on the screen but printing purple or do you know that the colour should be blue.
If it’s the first it may be that your screen is way out, if it’s the second check the printer profile your using in the rip.

Hi Ste. Thanks.
Yes it definitley should be blue. Like a navy or a royal. But is very purpley.
On my printout of my roland color chart there are NO blues that I would say are navy or royal. all strongly tinged towards purple.
What I am really asking, is what settings in COLORIP should I be tweaking to get the purple out and more blue in..
cheers

It’s not something I’ve had to do so I can’t offer specific advise on using the colour correction settings.
If your using the correct material profile then I would suggest getting in touch with your machine supplier and ask them to sort it out as the colours should be close.
Also in Colorip there is an option to alter the colour curves, read through the help section it tells you all about it.
Also try asking on the Roland user forum, not sure of the address but you need the serial number of your machine to join.Steve

Print a head test print to see if you are getting all your colours.
Set colour rip to default then try that I would suggest.
