  • Versacamm Print Sizing Problem

Posted by Kevin Talbot on 26 March 2009 at 21:41

Can anybody point me in the right direction please, I send file to versaworks and size the job there as I always have, but for some reason i am sizing some numbers at 150mm high but they print at 130mm high they are also narrower than they should be, I have never noticed this problem before and am wondering if it has anything to do with installing the new free software, any help would be appreciated. Thanks Kevin

Is your font converted to outlines? What file format are you saving in? Have you tried another format?

    What version of versaworks?

Have converted font to outlines. File format ESP. No.
The image that I am trying to print and cut is numbers for basket ball shirts and we have previously done these and want some more we do have some of the originals to compare its just when we set the size if image in versaworks ie 150mm high it actually prints/cuts 130mm high, for some reason it seems that it is only these images as i have just created a basic box sent it across to versaworks set to 150mm high, printed and hey presto printed box 150mm high. i realise that I can set the size of required numbers higher to achieve my 150mm high but i would like to understand why this is happening. Thanks Kevin

have you tried saving files in different format eps/pdf etc? Also, have you tried checking the file in outline mode on AI maybe there is an ealier stroke hidden that is cutting it short?

    Hi Kev

What file format are you sending it down, I use versa works and shiraz, versaworks is a great software but does some strange things with pdf’s now and again. shiraz has never ever thrown up a pdf problem in 3 years of ownership.

whether its a pdf or an eps. try saving out as a quality maximum jpeg. and send that down. if that dont work, I suspect your file maybe wrong?

Thanks for every bodies input, after alot of playing around I could not get this image to work for me so I did give up and redesigned it, it was definitely the image and not the machine. Thanks once again. Kevin
