Hi we have a versacamm SP-300, and on occasion with long jobs ( say about 2 – 3 metre) the vinyl is not running through straight, and on one occasion came completely out from under one of the rollers, ruining the job.

The way I go about making sure that it goes through is by lifting the lever, pulling the approximate length off the roll through the machine.

Then I shut the lever, let the machine check the width of the vinyl, then using the buttons drive the vinyl back to the start. Then I basepoint.

    ….This is very time consuming….

Does anyone have any tips for me?

    most appreciated

    Danny

ps. We have also just bought a laminator, so will be running jobs through twice. Does anyone have any tips regarding the registration marks etc…

Roll the vinyl on the roll quite tightly before you insert it , then make sure the ends of the roll are dead square.
Tape the vinyl tightly at the leading edge , making sure it quite tight on the roll.
Draw a line across the top of the roll and cut on it with a scissor.
Now your leading edge is square to the roll and you can line it up with the edge of the platen etc and all should be well.
If it still skews , clean the rubber rollers with a little soapy water and see that the bottom grit roller is clean , we find some prestick pressed into the diamond hatchback gripper pattern cleans out most gunk.
There is an option in the menu , I think , to pre feed the vinyl automatically to the length of the job if you want to pre feed and reverse. Problem with doing this is that it creates static and the exposed vinyl pick up dust.
