versacamm holiday
Posted by Peter Cox on 22 December 2005 at 09:08Just about to close down for the Christmas break and was wondering the best way to moth ball our versacamm sp540v.
I.e do a full clean? and should I leave it switched on or turn it off at the mains?
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PEACEFUL NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL

This thread may be off some use to you (?)
There are a few mothods other members use to keep machines functioning.

If it’s a Versacamm using Roland inks, I would think the procedeure would be:
Turn it off from the front panel but leave it plugged in, then when you come back, turn it on and start printing. :lol1:
Worked for me while I went on 2 weeks holiday this year. -
Thanks both for your advice.
Off now for Christmas see you next year, have a good one.

Hi everyone
I know this is an old thread, but it’s all I can find regarding Rolands and eco-sol inks.
I am away for 3 weeks, and don’t have anyone who can run a print off.
Roland told me to leave the machine on, but is that at the front panel, or just plugged in at the mains?I THINK the head clean is set for every 24 hours, but don’t know how to check this.
I leave on Sunday, so must get this sorted tomorrow, so any advice about my machine is most welcome.
Thanks

I’m sure I remember seeing somewhere that Rolands running EcoSol are OK
to leave for this length of time. Someone will be able to clarify no doubt. -
Hi mines been fine, keep it plugged in and the main power at he side turned on.
I never turn if off at the top front panel and it just goes in to stand by, then every 12 hours it wakes up and does a 20 second clean thing and then shuts back down, mines been fine for 2 weeks

Nope, you can’t go on the holiday Lorraine…it’ll be wrecked when you come back. A shame, I know. Such a waste I know 🙄 ……but I will take the 3 weeks holiday of your hands if you insist. Somebody might as well go….I know, I know, it big of me 🙄

As Rich said – the printer is designed to self clean to stop the heads getting clogged with ink – as long as you leave it plugged into the wall with the mains power on on the plug socket ( turn the printer off on the front panel as normal ) it will wake itself up at set intervals and do a quick clean.

Thanks Mike, that’s the clarification I needed. I couldn’t see it being on full-time at the front, as it is running all the time.
Can anyone explain the settings I need to check in ‘menu’ to see how often it head cleans? I’ve not heard it do one yet unless I’ve just switched it on.Thank you all for your replies.
Harry, you will have to share a bed with Geoff if you go in my place! 😛

Lorraine,
I’ve just had a look through the menu settings, in the manual, and I can’t see anywhere to check the auto cleaning cycle.
As has already been said, just leave it plugged in and turned on, after 30 minutes (default setting ) the machine will enter sleep mode and it’ll do a clean periodically, as Richard says.
I don’t switch mine off at the front panel.Steve

Lorraine, do you leave your machine plugged in at the wall with the power ON, from your last comment it would seem that you maybe switch the power off at the wall plug. If I am wrong please accept my apologies for rambling.
I think the machine is automatically set to self clean. I have left mine for 3 weeks with no problems. The time it self cleans is dependent on when you last used the machine so is not guaranteed to start at the same time everyday.
Go and enjoy a worry free holiday.

Hi Mike, no I leave it on at the wall, and off at the front panel.
Thanks everyone for your replies, I am at the shop now to do some last-minute checks, (and hug the printer) then I am going home to pack ready for tomorrow. :plane:Lorraine

DEREK please don’t confuse me! 😮 I thought I had it all sorted 🙁
I leave my machine on all day and it doesn’t appear to go to sleep, it sounds as though it is ready for work all day.
