    Hi,

Started working with our new Versacamm and I have been asked to do some graphics for a car (not a vehicle wrap just decals)

Whats the best way to laminate for use on cars, I am a little worried about the laminate lifting off the print? What I considered was:

Print – Cut – Remove Unused Vinyl From Around Print – Laminate – Cut Laminate (Leaving a oversized laminate edge of about 5mm beyond the print boundry)

Using: VersaCamm, Versaworks, Coreldraw, Metamark MD5 and Metaguard Laminate.

I would assume that I would need 2 cutlines one for each decal and an oversized one for the laminate?

Has anyone done this and are there any pitfalls,

    Thanks

    Daz….

    Fred,

Are you saying cut the lamiante to the print size?

Will it be OK and not lift off the print?

    Thanks

Once printed leave for a while to dry 😀 Laminate with whatever your using stick back in the machine and cut both layers at same time
i think thats how the versa works 😀

    Hi Chris,

Yes was given a days training by Roland engineer on install and I have been doing some laminating as per the Roland guys instructions but I was just a little worried that the laminate might lift when washing car etc and wondered if anyone did it differently.

    Thanks

I can’t get the print/lam/cut to work successfully at all and have had to look at other options 🙁

Will be hassling them some more when I have time!

as long as you let the print dry first you should not have a problem

My 540 is fine works a treat at Print – Lam – Cut very impressed!

Is it a Roland VersaCamm and what problem are you experiencing?

Do not make the laminate oversize. Just lam, and cut both together. The edges will not lift. Touch wood.

I’ve posted here before about alignment issues when I print/lam/cut. Tried lots of different things but nothing has helped.
