we run a roland vp300 now 18months old having problems when printing a solid black. It appears the ink is not drying so the heads seem to drag a nice black line across everything. Platten seems to be very hot one side and only warm the other any one else had to replace a heater element or thermostat any good engineers for rolands in the worthing/west sussex area ? any ideas welcomed.. cheers Nick

something dragging will more than likely be debris/fibres on the head.

clean out the captops and have a good look around the heads for what might be just 1 strand of fibre.

have cleaned the heads and all surrounding areas no fibers or hairs or such like think the vinyl was cold and the damp atmosphere doesn’t help matters but the hot end of the platten the ink is fine but as you progress towards the cooler end the ink seems thicker and the yellow letters on a solid black background go fuzzy so if the ink wasn’t dry and the vinyl puckered slightly I suppose the heads would drag across the surface ?

just leaves the heat problem then ?
