  • Versa Works doesnt detect printer.

Posted by Ian Lessiter on 22 July 2011 at 15:40

Have got a Uniform Grenadier which has been connected to a desktop PC via an ethernet cable, just to get us started. In the Network connections on the computer the two are linked.

I have installed Versa Works on the PC but when i try opening the software up it wont accept the IP address for the printer. Have used the software program recommended on here to identify the correct IP, but still no joy.

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

    is this a new install.
if so i think you might have to speak to roland as some of the early grenadiers will not work on versa works.

Thanks for the prompt reply Chris.

Yes it is a new install, so that might explain it, thanks for your help.

    Thanks.

Just to let you know, Ive been informed that Versa Works is not compatible with this printer, so it looks like a different RIP software is needed, any recommendations?

    Some suggestions :
You should first check out if you computer recognize the printer(maybe you have a bad network board??). Do you have printserver nettool? It’s a small program which reveals the IP address of the printer. If that soft sees the printer, then it might be an issue with the installer kit from versa works. As a suggestion, try a different installer kit.

Great suggestion. Surely this would be easier after the computer identify the printer first.

That’s the reason i was telling him to use Printserver Nettol. That program should find the printer.
