I do regular calibration and bi-directional checks on the machine.

    My question is:

Do I need to do this for each media and is it saved to each media?

Do I need to put my vinyl into the printer, load the vinyl preset on the printer, do my calibrations etc, then save the profile?

Does each profile store it’s own calibration values?

I have noticed in Versa works that the default is to use ‘media’ settings rather than printer settings?

I am right in assuming that the media setting will be the setting in the profile used in versa works, and printer will use the settings from the printer (which I again assume to be more accurate?)

    1. Yes, you can do a bi-directional, feed calibration, heater settings and so on for every material if you want an accurate print. Each settings is saved in the preset menu.
2.The answer is YES, first you load the media, do the setting, then save the preset.
3.Yes, every preset might have different calibration values. The differences are insignificant for the same kind of material (different types of vinyl, banner, paper etc.), but the differences are obvious from vinyl to banner or paper. All of them, because the thickness, the drying time and other things are different.
4.If you do those presets and leave the setting by default in versa works, then you are doing them for nothing.
    5. Yes you assume right. You must select "printer settings" after you calibrate your printer.

One more thing: the profile and the preset in not the same thing. The profile has in it some values given by the ones how made the profile (Roland engineers). The preset is a part of the profile.
    Hope that helps!

    Cheers Gabriel.

I will start calibrating each media as I use it, and change the default in versaworks.

    Hi there,

You have 8 presets available in the printer menu. Why don’t you use them? Every time you will load whatever the material , you will also load the right preset for it.

I do have the pre-sets set.

Just wasn’t too sure if it was a general calibration bi-di for all, or each.

I will check all the settings when I next use each media.
