  • Vehicle Wrap Training Course recommendation please?

Posted by Vincent James on 5 January 2014 at 06:25

I started out as a traditional signwriter but got into the vinyl from the late 80’s So I have a lot of knowledge already. Vehicle wrapping is a different element though so I am seriously considering going on a course. The best one I have seen is indeed this very forums one. I am based is Stockport so Trafford park is around the corner. So with the knowledge I already have would it be necessary to do the x2 day wrap £450 course or just the one day advanced £275 course? Many thanks in advance 🙂

We don’t wrap but I know if you buy half a roll of wrap and laminate from APA the course is free. You have to go to their HQ in Kent

I would do the 2 day course, well actually I did :lol1: :lol1:
Techniques for wrapping are somewhat different plus they cover the theory as well, well worth going if you intend to get into vehicle wraps. Don’t know about proper courses run by other Companies as this is the only one I have done.

John what APA do for free if you buy from them is probably a very basic introduction rather than a course, can’t say for sure as I don’t know the details but I have done similar training with other companies over the years.

Hi Martin, Would you think this is worth getting into? I have done some small graphic wraps and also the conformable reflective chevrons on the AA vans rear doors and it was so time consuming, spent good part of a day on just the back doors. I thought ideally it is really a two man job. Are the profit margins worth the outlay? thanks

As for it being worth doing the course I think that comes down to the actual individual & how good they are at selling.
It is really a 2 man job but you can manage on your own, probably takes more than twice as long, I doubt I will ever make much money wrapping vehicles but I am a rubbish sales man. Other people seem to do very well at this so there is money to be made.

MDP run a basic introduction to wrapping, no where near as comprehensive as the UKSG course but it is only about 100 squids & they give you some vinyl to go away with & practice at the end. Maybe something like that would be better for you. They do the training at there depot on the Wirral so not a million miles away for you.
